Abstract
Linear system direct solver is commonly used in the general
purpose structural finite element systems such as LSNIKE3D7
ANSYS, and MSC/NASTRAN, etc. In this paper,
a robust indefinite sparse solver for the linear/nonlinear
finite element program LS-NIKE3D is developed and investigated.
Two realistic applications are used to show that
the new sparse solver is superior to the conventional blocked
Cholesky solver of LS-NIKE3D in both CPU time and disk
usage.
