Abstract
A description of a design tool that uses adaptive finite element
remeshing, error analysis and integrally stiffened shell finite
elements is given. The design tool is user friendly and
interactive. The designer can set up the boundaries of the plate
or shell, state where the stiffeners are, apply appropriate
constraints and loading. The programme will then analyse the
structure to a predetermined level of accuracy. The program
reshaping and remeshing the finite elements as required. The
designer will concentrate on the primary role of creating novel
and efficient structural designs. The latest developments in the
finite element mesh generator, the shell elements with the
integral stiffeners, the linear and nonlinear solution routines
and the error analysis module is described. The development
of the program integration is also included.
