Summary
This paper shows a procedure for the calibration of hypoplastic model for clays. The only input used are the data obtained from two standard laboratory tests, in particular the oedometric test and the triaxial shear test. The technique is available to majority of geotechnical engineers since it uses general geotechnical finite element software to simulate the laboratory experiments. The laboratory test data of a soil sample are provided together with the results of corresponding simulations and obtained parameters. The calibrated model is finally applied to the analysis of a gradual excavation of a construction pit and the results are compared with the measured displacements.
