Summary
This paper investigates performance and robustness of displacement, velocity and
acceleration feedback controls for single degree of freedom (SDOF) seismic
structures. In the methodology, SDOF structures are actively controlled by using
proportional integral derivative (PID) type controllers. The controller parameters of
PID controller are tuned by using a numerical algorithm considering time delay and
maximum control force limit. Also, the robustness of the controller parameters was
checked upto plus or minus 30% change of the mass of the structure. According to
the results, a stability problem is not seen for all feedback controls. The acceleration
feedback preserves its performance with the minimum efficiency loss and minimum
increase of maximum control force compared with the other feedback controls.
