Summary
In this paper, two factors: the derailment coefficient and the angle of attack, which would impact on the derailment of train, have been considered comprehensively. Based on catastrophe theory, the cusp catastrophe model of the derailment accident is established. Combined with the cusp catastrophe model, the two kinds of situations in which the cusp catastrophe would occur has been discussed. With the help of the catastrophe model, the bifurcation set of the model gives the hazardous area of the train derailment. By using Simpack software, the vehicle dynamics model is set up to verify the validity of the method. The results of the simulation show that along with the increase of attack angle, the hazardous zone is increased; increasing the risk of the derailment.
