Summary
A general overview of the latest developments of dynamic penetrometers (Panda 3®
and Grizzly 3®) is presented in this paper. One of the focused topics, in this paper,
is the principle of uncoupling dynamic mechanical waves and the load-penetration
curves processing. For that purpose, data from laboratory tests carried out in
calibration chamber have been used in order to check both repeatability and
reliability of the results. In addition, field tests have been carried out on a railway
site. These tests aimed at comparing the results of the new penetrometers with those
obtained by classical geophysical and geotechnical tests. The test site is located in a
marshalling yard of Vernouillet station (Yvelines dept -Noth Ouest of Paris)
