Abstract
A simplified model for the analysis of asymmetric high-rise buildings subjected to earthquakes is developed. This model builds on previous simplified models but is an improvement as it can more accurately model the rotation at the ends of the columns. The model represents each floor of the building using only five degrees of freedom. This is condensed, prior to solution to only three degrees of freedom per floor. The model can be used for static analysis, free vibration analysis or time history analysis. Two examples are presented to show the accuracy of the model.
