Abstract
This paper addresses the algorithmic consequences of different definitions of the tangential slip in the context of finite element analyses of frictional contact involving large deformations. The algorithmic formulation including consistent contact matrices obtained for different definitions of the tangential slip and for the general case of pressure- and velocity-dependent friction models is described. Two numerical examples are selected to demonstrate the effect of different definitions of tangential slip on the numerical results.
