Abstract
A half scaled model of a common four-story steel structures in
Iran has been designed, constructed, and tested by pair of
harmonic force vibration exciters. The model is one that
resembles most of the low to medium rise Iranian steel
structures which include semi-rigid beam-to-column connections
of the so called "Khorjinee" type, and masonry jack-arch
flooring systems.
For studying and identification of dynamic behavior of the "Khorjinee" connection a comprehensive forced vibration test on half scale model has been performed. In this paper the comparison of forced vibration test with the dynamic analysis of mathematical model using rigid and hinge connection have been presented. Dynamic characteristic of structure (frequencies, mode shapes and damping ratios) based on the assumed connection stiffness have been obtained. As a result of these studies, a method is presented for dynamic analysis of the "Khorjinee connection". purchase the full-text of this paper (price £20)
