Abstract
The paper discusses response functions of structural systems against both unserviceability and collapse. A response function of a structural system with uncertain properties and acted on by random loads is defined in the space of mean loads; it represents all the combinations of mean loads leading to a prescribed reliability level against the occurrence of a specified limit state. A computer program was developed for determining the overall reliability of framed structures and the associated response functions. The main feature of this program is that at each stage of the analysis process the reliability levels against unserviceability and collapse are simultaneously generated.
