Summary
This study describes the construction of a detailed wheel-track structure contact model to accurately express railway vehicle behaviour after derailment. The model was then incorporated into the numerical analytical program DIASARS III which is able to show railway vehicle behaviour after derailment. Firstly, the proposed method divides the running track into several strips in the rail direction. The geometric irregularity and wheel-track structure contact spring for each strip are defined discretely as a function of the position in the rail direction. Secondly, a method is proposed which can model the phenomenon whereby the derailed wheel collides with or jumps over the rail.
