Abstract
The chapter describes structural engineering in the design of tall buildings, office buildings and apartment buildings. The governing principles with regard to gravity and lateral loads, building movements, fire and progressive collapse are discussed. Specific examples of buildings built in the last thirty years including the Burj Khalifa in Dubai are discussed.
