Abstract
This chapter presents dual domain decomposition techniques for the solution of large-scale linear structural problems on workstation clusters. The techniques presented are based on the FETI method, which is the most widely used dual domain decomposition formulation. The aim of this chapter is to propose an efficient implementation of the FETI method for workstation clusters and to investigate its behaviour on such computing environments. The algorithms are applied according to the masterlslave model for distributed computing and numerical tests are performed on ethernet-networked workstations running the message passing software PVM.
