Abstract
The aim of the work described in this paper is to investigate the possibility of using Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) to produce Project Planning Networks (PPNs) for construction projects. The fundamental information which is assumed to be available is a list of activities for the project which might be produced using automated techniques but which is most likely to be provided by project planners. The paper describes the model which has been developed and the experiments run on it; it also presents the results obtained so far. The problems which have arisen are discussed and potential solutions to them are proposed.
