Abstract
An anisotropic work hardening elasto-plastic model is developed to describe the mechanical behavior of natural clay deposits. The model is characterized by only few easily obtainable soil parameters. Comparisons with the reported experimental results in the literature show that various aspects of drained and undrained behavior of anisotropic clays are satisfactory predicted.
