Summary
The paper describes an experiment that involves measurements of the light rail vehicle vibration undertaken on different sections of track. In this paper we discuss measurements of track geometry irregularities on a section of a light rail track performed by indirect methods. This paper focuses on the light rail track irregularities and dynamic vehicle response. The analysis of the results of the measurements focuses on short and medium wave of track lateral and vertical irregularities. Moreover the authors present the results of the simulations conducted with low-floor tram models running on the track sections with real track geometry. A correlation was observed between ride comfort index value measurement on the light rail vehicle models, and track geometry irregularities. This research is all the more important, because light rail vehicles are characterized by many different structural characteristics and different track irregularities than those of classic rail vehicles. The studies performed provide insight into the changes in the dynamics of a light rail vehicle due to the railway track's deterioration.
