Summary
Currently, there is great variation in the price of diesel in Brazil. This directly affects the variable cost of transport companies in the sector. Within the railways, part of the great challenges is aimed at overcoming the annual budget, cargo and ore transported with cost reduction compared to previous years, becoming more efficient every year. For this, it is necessary to take effective actions to achieve liter ratio reduction consumed by the KTKB (gross ton kilometers multiplied by a thousand). This acronym stands for the energy efficiency indicator of some railways in the world. In this paper, we seek to identify the controlled variables that have a correlation with the index of Energy Efficiency. This will be done by tying factors with an impact on the equation using proven tools for statistical analysis and simulation train within defined scenarios of operational reality metric gauge railways. Some of these variables, for example, including the average weight and train stops, will be studied for their correlation. We hope that with the completion of the study, companies in the railway sector could have considerable cost savings.
