Summary
The objective of this paper is to present implementation schemes adopted by the authors for transient finite element analysis of accelerated or decelerated moving loads running over a beam. Essentially, it is focused on the modifications adopted by them in the finite element model in order to change from a uniform velocity scheme to a uniformly accelerated scheme. The examples show the convergence of the results obtained for the deflection of the beam with the increase in the number of time steps. Analytical results are required for validation of the proposed finite element approach. Such preliminary results are obtained for railway applications in the case of rail longitudinal vibrations.
