Summary
The aim of the study, described in this paper, is to present the traffic network design using a traffic simulator based on a genetic algorithm. The design objective is traffic volume maximization. The route selection of vehicles at the intersection of roads is taken as the design variable. The traffic data such as traffic flow and traveling time is estimated using a traffic simulator based on the cellular automata model. Tobishima Pier at Port of Nagoya is considered as a numerical example in order to discuss the validity of the algorithm.
