Abstract
The paper discusses how in-house integrated systems for structural design may be developed for a microcomputer environment. An experimental system of this type is described which incorporates a product model for a reinforced concrete beam. The concept of using one subsystem to synthesise part of the design and a separate system to check this is demonstrated. It is suggested that an integrated system should develop from a basic configuration with intelligent resources added.
