Summary
This paper is concerned with the derivation and validation of a multi-domain simulation model of a commercially available common rail diesel injector with a solenoid control valve. In the first part of the paper the hydraulic, mechanical and electrical submodels of the derived injector model are described in detail together with the underlying model-assumptions and all model parameters. For evaluating the model parameters different measurement techniques are applied, which is the subject of the second part of the paper. Here a test bench for spring stiffness measurements and results of x-ray micro computed tomography measurements for nozzle geometry evaluation are presented. The paper concludes with the validation of the implemented injector model using experimental data of injection rate and needle displacement.
