Abstract
In this paper, the transfer matrix method is applied to the
thin-walled members with wave-type cross section, where the
curvatures of the consecutive shell panels are different
directions each other. In the derivation of the transfer matrix,
the minus radiuses of curvature and transfer angles are
introduced. To demonstrate the accuracy and efficiency of the
proposed method, the results obtained by the method are
compared with those obtained with folded plate
approximation. The buckling strength and mode shapes of the
members with wave-type cross sections are compared with
those of the members with other types of cross sections.
