Abstract
Information management and communication in planning and controlling large construction projects is vital for the timely and economical project completion. The primary concern is to ensure that all parties interested in the project have available, on a timely basis, the information needed to exercise effective control over the project. The present paper addresses the feasibility of design and implementation of an extranet application, along with its intranet components, for project information communication among parties involved in large construction projects. The application of an extranet allows advanced. effective and secure project information dissemination between the construction company and external strategic partners (other companies, subcontractors, suppliers, financial institutions. supervising authorities). In addition, the cost for implementing an extranet is very low.
