Abstract
In this paper the finite element modelling of a flood grout runway surfacing overlaying the repair of an explosively formed crater is described. The research discusses assumptions made regarding the Young's modulus of the repair materials and proposes minimum Young's modulus values. Recommendations are also made concerning the minimum subbase requirements. The relationship between the strength gain in the flood grout and the ability of the runway to support aircraft is also investigated.
