Abstract
This is a discussion paper which looks at the application
of IT to design. Past successes and failures are analysed
using a variety of techniques. The findings of the analysis
are then applied to current research topics in an attempt to
ascertain their strengths and weaknesses and predict which
will be of long term practical use.
