Abstract
Methodologies, tools and techniques used in the development of expert systems, for use by engineers in storm-sewer management and sewerage rehabilitation planning, are outlined. A number of issues of relevance to expert system builders are discussed, including comments on intelligent front-ends, logic programming techniques, treatment of uncertainty, and explanation and justification techniques.
