Abstract
This paper presents results of impact tests on a brickwork arch bridge. The effects of the spandrel walls and the filling upon its dynamic behaviour are studied. The results are presented in both the time and frequencies domains. The arch's main modes of vibration are described and separated. The arch was found to vibrate in a harmonic manner. The spandrel walls increased some resonant frequencies while the filling material decreased some of them. The damping effect on the structure's dynamic response was increased when both the walls and the filling were included, which is desirable in practice, since these structures are subjected to traffic excitations.
