Abstract
A finite element analysis of plate embedded reinforced concrete beams was carried out. The software package used was ABAQUS. The results indicated that, by using solid elements to represent the concrete and two-dimensional plane stress elements for plates, the analysis can predict the structural response reasonably well. The analysis also suggested that the plates act effectively and efficiently in this type of hybrid construction. Some of the results are also compared with the test.
