Abstract
This paper describes an asymptotic two-scale method to study vibration and stability of long flexible structures. This method splits the original problem into local problems and overall ones. The local problems are modal ones and are posed on a few basic cells. The global problems are amplitude equations, to be satisfied by the envelopes of the modes.
