Abstract
This chapter provides review and discussion on different formulations of structural optimization under uncertainties. The review covers deterministic design optimization, reliability-based design optimization, robust optimization, risk optimization, and robust risk optimization. The discussion focuses on the effects of the expected consequences of failure on optimal structural design.
