Abstract
The first part of this chapter is devoted to the formulation of the elastic-plastic joint element to determine the structural behavior and characteristics of masonry structures. In masonry structures, due to the material properties, only compressive stress is assumed to exist. In the second part, to ensure the effectiveness of the joint element, the case of plain concrete/mortar under combined stress and the case of soil where slippage occurs under a footing, are investigated.
