Abstract
A system to measure the static and dynamic deflections of a major bridge is described. The system uses laser beams to provide a frame of reference over distances of 120m and measurements are made by tracking the movements of the beam using a computer controlled solid state camera. The system will operate unattended over long periods. Details of the hardware and software, together with typical results are presented.
