Abstract
In the initial design stage of a concrete multi-storey building, the engineer is confronted with the task of analysing and then designing several likely configurations. A program called MUSCON has been developed to analyse buildings of up to 20 storeys, and design the members using interactive colour graphics. When design decisions are required, the program transfers control back to the engineer by using a menu system. The program was developed on a pocket computer and the design method is illustrated using a six-storey building.
