Abstract
The development of two three dimensional cable elements, i.e. elastic and associate cable elements, which utilizes an exact mathematical formulation, is described. The two elements can be used to model structural cables in space regardless of how taut or slack they may be. The application of these elements is demonstrated in the analysis of a cable net and a guyed mast.
