Abstract
The effects of variabilities of the constituent material strengths and steel placement properties on the variations in the short term ultimate bond strength of bottom tension reinforcing bars in concrete beams were studied. The beams were assumed to be cast-in-place and represented an average quality of construction. The concrete cover, the amount of stirrup reinforcement, and the size of flexural steel influenced the variations in bond strength.
