Abstract
The Transversely Stiffened Single Curvature Cable-Suspended Roofs (TSCR) presented in this paper is studied as a group of beams on elastic foundation with interaction on each other. A rational design and simplified analysis method is proposed which includes that the solutions of single beam in the adjusting support displacement state and loading state are obtained by Minimum Potential Energy Principle; the interaction of beams is actively designed by optimum design ideas and the cross-sections of elements are determined by constraint conditions of maximum deflection and bearing capability. The feasibility and effect of the method are verified by both comparison of the results from this method and non-linear finite element method for two examples and a real model test of TSCR.

The design and computation of TSCR for Anhui Province Gymnasium in P.R. China have been successfully carried out by the combination of non-linear finite element analysis and the rational design method described in this paper.
