Abstract
Because of the number of variables, analysis of risk levels often calls for rather lengthy computations to arrive at meaningful results. The mini-computer has been used to tackle computations in the analysis of fire risks. This paper reviews the techniques used.

Firstly the theoretical background is briefly set out and a 'step by step' time variable solution is developed for estimating temperature rise in steel members. Computational techniques are developed and results are obtained over a range of variables to test sensitivity to the limiting assumptions.
