Summary
The use of cables in buildings except for bridges is not widespread in Turkey. Cables are mostly used for the construction of large suspended bridges and especially during the construction of overpasses in city centres. In places such as wedding, meeting halls and mosques, which are intensively used by people for some occasions, the halls are preferred to be wide span and without internal columns to prevent obstacles to vision. To this effect, for construction of such places, special engineering building and material usage is required. Most of the bridges over the streams on the roads are constructed by means of classical reinforced concrete and possibly by using prefabricated beams. In this paper, some buildings are analysed, which are constructed in Eskisehir using cables.

The cable structures, which are analysed in this study, are mosques. Cable usage was preferred due to the fact that no columns should be placed in the middle part of the building because of the wide space requirement in line with the features of a mosque. The features of the cable were determined by the technical committee of the building and it was ensured that the flooring, which was initially only constructed as a cantilever, was properly supported. Such application was realized in three mosques and one public bath in Eskišehir. During the cable implementation realized in two of the mosques, a computer analysis of the internal forces of the cable and the frame elements was undertaken [1]

In this study, the buildings were analysed in terms of statics and dynamics. The results obtained show that the cable systems used are only applicable if some of their problems are settled. Formation of adherence (bond) by cable and concrete should be ensured by putting pipes at intervals of 10-15 cm and ensuring that the concrete is allowed to enter inside them by opening holes of 1-2 mm diameter. At least four clamps should be used at the connection points, so the connection joint will be more secure and this is very important from a stability point of view. Further explanations will be offered once the structure test results on the other mosque and the baths are analyzed.
