Abstract
Maintenance management in developing countries is discussed and sane objectives for a maintenance management system are given. Operation of such a system requires the use of data about the road network, its condition, maintenance operations, etc, and the use of a computer helps to simplify the recording, sorting and interpretation of these. With the availability of cheap microcomputers, it is sensible to make use of such a powerful tool, and experiences with the implementation of a microcomputer based maintenance management system in developing countries are described.
