Abstract
The range of legal problems which may be encountered by the professional civil and structural engineer who uses computers is very wide. The first objective of this paper is to discuss some of the issues raised by these problems. A number of these have required special legislation. The second objective is therefore to make engineers aware of the existing law, both old and new, and the practical consequences which flow from more recently introduced Legislation.
