Abstract
The paper reports on a theoretical and an experimental investigation into the collapse of dome cup ends under external hydrostatic pressure. The dome cups were made from glass reinforced plastic. The experimental results showed that some of the dome cups were stronger than a similar but thicker conventional dome cup. The theoretical analysis was via the finite element method.
