Abstract
In this paper some works on the seismic aspects of completely overlap tubular joints were presented. This type of joint configuration can be found in a kind of innovative offshore jacket configuration called eccentric jacket. In this paper, the design concepts for eccentric jacket were described. Some advantages of the completely overlap joint were proposed from the viewpoint of seismic resistance design. Then some quantitive indictors used in onshore industry to characterize the seismic performance of completely overlap joints were examined. Finally, a numerical analysis was carried out to simulate the inelastic behavior of the joint under cyclic loads. The hysteresis curve was analyzed to evaluate the seismic performance of the joint.
