Abstract
In this paper we present our experience in using Cellular Automata (CA) approach to simulate physical problems. In particular we will show the advantages in using a high-level language for CA programming, the Cellular Automata Network Language, outlining the main features of such a language. Furthermore the advantages of using the CANL programming model to structure applications for simulation problems, in such a way to better exploit the opportunities of parallelism offered by the adopted network of CA, are reported.
