Abstract
In this paper we present calculations for acoustic and elastic waves propagating in periodic composites consisting of spheres in a host material. Our aim is to examine whether stop bands appear in these composites and under what conditions. To perform these calculations our methods were associated with a simple parallellization procedure which is also presented.
