Abstract
A procedure used for the analysis and design of tunnel lining for the cooling water system of a 1,000 MW combined cycle power station is presented. A simplified two dimensional model on a commercial structural analysis program was employed. The reliability of this program was checked against a proven finite element program. It is demonstrated that the analytical results produced are reasonable and can be used with confidence for the design of plain or reinforced concrete tunnel linings.
