Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to develop a finite element for dynamic analysis of orthotropic laminated beams. The mechanical model is able to describe bending, shear and extension, and it includes all the inertial effects of a plane problem. The equation of motion is obtained by using Hamilton's principle and that equation is discretized in the space via FEM Two different methods are used to find the solution of the movement equation. The first method solves the problem as an eigenproblem. The second method uses a time integration algorithm of Newmark's family. Some numerical results are presented to show the principal features of the formulation.
