Abstract
The paper presents a parallel approach to the parameter identification problem for groundwater flow modeling formulated as an optimisation problem. This approach is feasible as an add-on to existing modeling software. After reviewing the possibilities and the theoretically obtainable speed-up a solution is presented suitable both for homogeneous and heterogeneous parallel distributed memory architectures.
