Abstract

The mathematical foundations of the application of non-linear transformations to the numerical integration or the singular kernels appearing in Boundary Elements arc revised in this paper. It is shown why previous papers following this approach work while others do not, and also why some of the latter ones work only for the particular examples presented therein. Some non-linear transformations for 2-D and 3-D problems arc presented here that fulfil the mentioned mathematical requirements. A complete numerical study of the accuracy of these schemes is also discussed in detail.
