Abstract
The boundary element formulation of three-dimensional isotropic, incompressible, linear elastic solids under static or frequency domain dynamic conditions, is presented. Integral expressions are provided for displacements, stresses and hydrostatic pressure. It is proven that the incompressible fundamental tensors can be obtained from corresponding compressible ones by simply putting the Poisson's ratio nu equal to 0.5 in elastostatics and the P-wave number kp equal to zero in elastodynamics. Numerical examples with existing analytical solutions are solved to illustrate the method and demonstrate its accuracy and efficiency.
