Abstract
In this paper, the author describes the development of a simple computer aided instruction system which has proven to be very effective for teaching analysis and design courses in structural engineering. The system allows students to acquire basic engineering knowledge as well as a thorough grounding in computer analysis and computer-aided design within traditional time limits. The computer used by the author for instruction was a VAX 11/780 but the technique may be employed for any type of computer system.
